The quest to find a unique Christmas gift idea for that special someone seems to become tougher with each passing year. If you are tired of the disappointing lack of options as you pick through High Street shelves, take a look at http://www.afrikagifts.co.uk/
Afrika Gifts, based in St Helens, works directly with various Kenyan artisans to present a line of beautiful hand crafted giftware.
Each product is original, in a variety of shapes and sizes, organic shapes coupled with bright patterns make a stylish natural décor accent for your home.
Three years ago, Liverpool businesswoman Diane Cannon was working earning £50k as a banker, but after a life-changing trip to Kenya she decided to launch Afrika Gifts.
Now a business ambassador for the St Helens Chamber of Commerce, Di said: "I lived for my career and became a total workaholic. I quit my job and decided to go traveling, see the world and when I came home I would set up my own business.
"My trip to Kenya didn’t turn out the way I had expected but I was moved by what I saw.
"During my visit I met many Kenyan people who made such an impact on me that I decided to come back to the UK and form Afrika Gifts.
"The rest is history, as they say!
"I hope the beautiful products speak for themselves. I can’t change the world, however, I am happy to say that I am already making a difference to our friends in Kenya."
The stunning items on offer range from exquisite Jacaranda wood carvings, from a small town called Banana Hill in the Kiambu district of Kenya, to Soapstone vases and dishes hand painted by the Gusii residents of Kisii (the sale of each item helps to improve their lives.)
Sisal baskets are handwoven by the Bahati women living in Kenya, while Maasai women work to produce colourful beaded giftware, and Afrika Gifts sources a gorgeous array of jewellery from artisans all over Kenya using recycled materials. Afrika Gifts' range invites you to look and feel special whilst doing something to help others less fortunate.
Diane Cannon is also delighted to introduce a brand new range of unique, ethically sourced wedding favours as well as specially planned party evenings available on request.
Having won 'Best Stand at Show' at the Wirral Show in 2009, Diane has an extensive list of Christmas events lined up so be sure to catch her while you can:
